The Role of Progesterone in Hormonal Birth Control

The oxidative stress research is largely on women of reproductive age taking birth control who are athletes so maybe a little bit different in other client populations. We're not 100% sure exactly why these things happen but the hypothesis is also around the activation of cortisol and aldosterone receptors. In addition to that hormonal birth control preparations that do not contain estrogen even a synthetic version may lower bone density as well which is a risk factor for osteoporosis. This has been shown fairly clearly with the progesterone based injectable compound depoporverawhich is a long acting birth control.
