The Empire Stores Warehouse in Brooklyn
In the late 19 seventies and 19 eighties, archaeologists excavated the ground outside of the empire stores warehouse in brooklyn. When they went to dig out in front of this space, they found remnants of timber frame cribs. Those structures used to expand the city's shore line to create more land. Lucy: What do you think all this stuff was doing inside of a land fill crib?Lucy: It was all trash that people used to weigh down these cribs. These items were there because nineteenth century new yorkers threw them away.
