Shakespearean fish swam the sea far away from land Romantic fish swam in nets coming to the hand What are all those fish that lie gasping on the strand? That's modernism or post-modernism today unfortunately now in a Shakespearean tragedy We see exceptional suffering and This suffering leads us to pity the character. The hero King Lear we kind of find him relatively abhorrent in the first two acts but many productions do the character of disservice by painting him as a fool. He was the undoing of himself Maybe he did deserve it by virtue of his actions, but he also didn't fully deserve it and I pity him I feel sorry for him and I sympathize with
