Is Human Attention a Liability?

I don't know of any planet except Earth from which we could draw more immigrants. Once human labor is more expensive, it becomes more difficult to replace energy with complexity. It's not even clear that human attention is a resource rather than a liability, right? This type of transition can be very sudden and sort of starts at kind of these bedrock institutions in society. I think we're moving towards an international order that has some upsides but mostly downsides.
