There's another musical inspiration for the song that really surprised me. It might be kind of hard to hear it first, but it's buried in the harmonies of the chorus. The shape of those chords, and it's just like a four chord sequence, that is the shape of the Monty Norman James Bond theme. That's exactly what it's pointing to. There's like that 1960s feel.
