The Night of the Arson Attack
Vancouver Police Constable Kiel Akama responded to the emergency call from Ozzy Caban when he found Cindy on the floor with the knife through her hand. The blood on the kitchen floor where Cindy claimed the attack had initially taken place was smeared in a circular pattern as though an attempt had been made to clean it. When given the results, Cindy grabbed the polygraph operator's arm and said, "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry" More testimony implicating Cindy was yet to come. In August 1985, detectives investigating arson attacks at James' home discovered that one of the windows opened outwards making it difficult for someone to crawl through.
