I was so enamored with him and he was so larger than life to me that I assimilated into him. And as I got sicker and sicker because I was miserable in law school because I didn't have a personhood outside of him, it wasn't just the absence of me, which it had been before. It was a sick me plus him. We both had a lot of reasons why that relationship shouldn't have worked. But I don't know that anything is doomed from the start. There are some people who would be able to say, this isn't working for me," she says.
