Is the Western Idea of Human Rights the Only True Model?

There is something certainly dogmatic and almost authoritarian about the western idea of the way we should organize our politics. The real difficulty, which i think is as yet unsolved, is to try and take from the western enlightenment tradition some statement of the genuinely universal element. And even if it can be done, i'm not sure that the way in which it's now being done really gets us very far. Are lawyers the best people to be thinking about this? Ais, the model of courts has a vital place. But do we really want to model the interactions of cultures with each other on the basis of rights bearers? I'm a bit a dubious about that.
