The virus on the kitchen table is protected by a capsid, some with a ar a lipid coating also. The spike snail has ways of attaching to cells and then entering the cell. They manipulate the acting molecules beneath the membrane. It's just amazing how elaborately molecular aspects to this are. And they trick all of them, and they get inside the cell.
