The Importance of Philosophy
In Australia you can go straight into a law degree out of high school which is what I applied to do. When I was living in Princeton for a year I rented a house from a professor of philosophy Saul Kripke. He's like the preeminent logical philosopher so he left all his books and I tried to read some of them. It just seemed a bit crazy to say how do I know that I'm not dreaming now. But on the other hand in ethics you know how would I to live what's right and wrong? That's why when I went on to do graduate work I focused on ethics and political philosophy.
