He is also smart enough not to get taken advantage of when there's a power and balance that doesn't benefit him. And here, from faust, we get another beautiful expression of his ruminating, dissatisfied attitude towards life. I am too old to be content with play. Too young to be without desire. What wonders could the world reveal? You must renounce? You ought to yield. That is the never ending drone which we must our life long hear."
