Is There a Memory of a Flute in a Cave?

The first known musical instrument, these little bone flutes, were being played in a space that matched them really well. We find flute music pleasing to our ears when there's a pretty good amount of reverberation in it. Wagner complained about the modern flute being too damn loud because it was redesigned to fit this new space. The human aesthetic is very acutely tuned to the relationship between music and the acoustic space.
