What's the Inside Job of Rating Agencies?

Each financial project has a separate subsidiary. The parent company holds the shares in the subsidiary and guarantees now the debt of that subsidiary. It works as long as markets boom, right? You make a lot of money, you get a lot of debt finance,. All the profits go back to the parent, and the parent pays them all back to the shareholders. If the parent can't pay because it has no liquid assets, if it doesn't get enough profits from the subsidiary, then it goes broke. That's basically the inside job.
