The judge at his trial ordered a further inquest to be taken. The Reverend Peter Vincent's defense was a simple one. Michael Taylor was obviously possessed by a demon, he said. No one who isn't being controlled by evil spirits would ever do such a thing. A forensic psychiatrist claimed the exorcism that took place on the evening prior to the attack was entirely related to Michael Taylor's quote, trance state and the eventual killing of his wife.
