The Rise and Fall of Marvelous Melbourne

Graham Davison is the author of The Rise and Fall of Marvelous Melbourne, which was first published in 1978. Before we came here, we did a walking tour around Melbourne and you showed me a lot of the old buildings that had been constructed mainly during the boom of the 1880s. So thank you for that. We were really focusing on the story of Melbourne in the 19th century. It's a story partly about the effect of gold and the gold rush. And I was interested in showing you some examples of the buildings that reflect the character of that period.
