Rebound Effects in Energy Efficiency
Out of 29 e countries, 11 experienced rebound effects of over 50%. More than half of the gains in energy efficiency were consumed by increases in energy use. Air con ing and heating are large contributors to both direct and indirect rebounds. A rebound effect as large as 60 % has been shown in increased improvements and efficiency in the residential heating sector.
