Los Penitantes - A Brief History
Following Mexican independence from Spain in 1821, church authorities in Mexico withdrew the Franciscan, Dominican and Jesuit missionaries. Los Penitantes were perhaps best known for their songs of worship called Alabados. The Brotherhood later reconciled with the Church; they modified their rituals. They were recognized in 1947 and still exist today.

A group of nuns in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the late 1800s needed a special staircase built for their chapel, so they prayed a novena and a mysterious workman came and built it. Jimmy Akin and Dom Bettinelli discuss what makes the spiral staircase special, who built it, and whether it could have been St. Joseph himself.
