The Oracles and the Oracs in Genesis - Are You Sure?
In Genesis, god tells abraham that he's going to destroy the people of sodom and gomorrah. Rather than accept this, abraham is like, are you sure you want to do that? And even though in the end, he accepts god's reasoning or the fate, he still feels somehow empowered to challenge god. The prom edipus says that he isn't brazenly accepted because he thinks he can thwart the oracle. So why should we fault abraham for listening to god? Isn't there also a virtue in sort of having your priors and then sorting it out later?"
