Is the Museum an Archive?

There is some tension between why bother keeping old diaramas or all of these illustrations and money to preserve them. I look at a library as an archive. A museum is an archive. The answer to that research is done. It's an archive. In a sense, an anthropologist goes into a culture and collects material culture and brings it back. All that material is part of just a vast archive. We have to be able to show somebody that what we've done.
