With knowledge, consciousness becomes a knower that requires identification with body mind. Gya-ta, pramathrithuam, no worship, that comes because of Adhyasa. By itself, consciousness is not a knower. For example, to know something, they must be changed. No requires change. How can the Atman change? If you are conscious, you don't change. That's why notice Vivekananda's definition of the Atman, your knowledge itself. Not that the Atman knows, it is knowledge itself. What is knowledge itself? Consciousness. And then with body, with mind, which are changing, you become aknower. So
