Is There a Hope in the Open Source Model?

I think it's very important to understand the true advantages and disadvantages of the open source model. You need to put at least as much effort into building the community around product as you put in to riting the actual code. Hope is never an investment strategy, just like you would never think of putting your ap up in the apstor hoping for the best. And i think that this has become sort of a thing that everybody knows, but very, very, very few people seem willing to execute on.
