The Relationship Between EBV and Multiple Sclerosis
There was a paper in science entitled Longitudinal Analysis Reveals High prevalence of EBV associated with multiple sclerosis or MS. In this paper that risk of MS was increased 32 fold after EBV infection and that really wasn't seen in other viruses. And they also took a look at the serum concentrations of neurofilament light chains, which is a sensitive but it sounds like not particularly specific biomarker for neuronal, axonal degenerationand these levels were increased after infection.
