This week's guest is zachary lope, a phd. Candidate at the university of pennsylvania whose dissertation is on y to k. In recent years, there has been this kind of resurgeance in tech criticism that we've seen since two thousand 15 or two thousand 16. We can go back decades and see similar criticisms being levelled at these technologies than what are still being levelled to day. The question is, if we want to make society in a different image, what technologies would be in that society? It's a different way of approaching it.

Paris Marx is joined by Zachary Loeb to discuss the history of tech criticism with a focus on Joseph Weizenbaum and Lewis Mumford, as well as why the techlash is a narrative that suits Silicon Valley.
