The Importance of Alternative Possibilities

Incompatibilism is the idea that if an agent acts freely then it must be the case that that agent could have done otherwise. Opposed to incompatibilists is the compatibilist position which argues that it's possible for the world to be both determined and free under certain conditions. Freedom rather requires an unconditional interpretation of alternative possibilities, says John Maynard Keynes.
