The Soviet Intervention in Chekeslavacia
The first stirrings began wi the economy, specifically in attempts to liberalize it from strictures of central communist planning. The four satellite states urged the soviet union to intervene to halt the check liberalization. Initially, this pressure was to be felt in a series of warsaw packed military exercises. By its culmination, the military manoeuvres were to result in the arrival of over 25 thousand troops. These moves were complimented by a widespread k g b disinformation campaign monitoring the political and military developments. In the absence of direct intelligence, the foreign and commonwealth office could only apply its logic to the situation.
