The Value Proposition of Design

When you're stepping into a new organization, ask yourself where is this coming from? What is the promise that they hope gets fulfilled? Too often what I see is designers are brought in to an environment like this, but they're not set up for success. You should be able to ask for things like headcount before you get hired. That's a warning sign that they don't necessarily understand what it is they're asking for.
