What Happened to the Native Americans?

At least 56 million Native Americans were wiped out in just about a century or so. The question then, obviously which begs itself is what happened to the Native Americans? What happened was you could call cultural assimilation or cultural imposition, cultural imperialism, to some extent. That's how North America is now all settled by European origin people. And the natives are not even second-read, but the third-rate citizens in these lands.
