The north and the south of yemen were two states, but they only actually became two states in the 19 sixties. They were a patchwork of smaller statelet saltanats shechdoms and imarmut in the north. And then there were a lot of regional protests, in the two thousands, which eventually erupted into the arab spring. So, you know, this current war is really just a bigger continuation of that, an internationalized version.
