The Contraction of China's Current Account Surplus
When China was ramping up its current account surplus it effectively amounted to a big transfer of resources from the household sector to the corporate sector. What matters for China now as it has tried to rebalance and shift resources back to the household sector is not overall GDP growth but rather household income as a share of GDP growth.
