The Effect of Words on Infant Brain Development

In our culture, the word sadness is used and we have a concept for sadness. In other cultures, like in Russian, there's also a translated word for sadness,. But it covers a somewhat different variety of experiences and instances. And so what you're doing when you use words to label things for your infants is you're helping them to develop a system of concepts that their brain can use to make predictions about what's going to happen inside their own bodies and in the world.
