The Importance of Taking a Step Back

Zachary: I think there is some confusion about low points, right? Like that there's an assumption that we're in the lowest point of American history when we're very clearly not. There was this really interesting democracy index that came out. And it rated mostly because of Trump, the quality of United States democracy as lower than it was in the times that women didn't have the right to vote. So that kind of perspective is crucial, that things may be bad and unique and uniquely bad but they are not insurmountable.
