How Long Did It Take You to Interview People?
As Ching you were looking back into a more distant era, the turbulent history of 20th century China for your research. As Rhona she was becoming an ethnographer in the process and learning how to interview people. So it's been an extraordinary adventure in itself. In many ways, I think it's only the end of the book where I realized, wow, I'm one of the soldiers in this Chinese script revolution that I've been writing about.
