The True Faithfulness of God
Paul says that everything is founded ultimately upon the faithfulness of god. Even when human beings prove faithless, god will still work out his purposes faithfully. This should be the greatest source of comfort for those who are penitent. In their midst the false teachers are fond of quarrels and resist correction. Their teaching leads to conflict and division. The way of the false teachers is driven by pride,. By contrast, Timothy should seek, above all else, the praise of the lord. He should desire to be recognized as a faithful servant... And his business is with the word of truth."
