"I talked to an elderly investor, 85 years old, who's got all his money in equities. His comment was, well, I can't take it out of there because I won't make money anywhere else," he said. "What happens if you do have a Japan scenario? And for the next 30 years, it's still half of what it is today?" He then suggested that maybe even if you're not going to look at the other things that are available to you, you just put it into cash.
