How Algorithms Influence Us

Algorithms are a complete mystery to most of us on the outside, a black box. We know they're recommending videos or targeting ads, but how are our algorithms influencing us in ways that we are completely unaware of? The responsibility really lays with the companies and with regulating agencies who don't understand or just don't care. So when chat GPT comes out and there is so much buzz, so fast, what goes through your minds? I'm still learning about all the different ways in which my day to day life is being influenced by decisions that companies are making.
