The Offense of the Cross
The cross of Christ is offensive because it tells us that we are sinners who can't do anything to save ourselves. The Greek word for offense that Paul used here is the word scandal on. In another place, Paul called the gospel a stumbling block to Jews and a folly to Gentiles. It's scandalous. But as long as we see how the cross has leveled all of humanity, has declared that all of humanity is in need of salvation from their sin,. That helps you to be a person who continually runs in grace.
