The Paleocene Thermal Maximum, or PEM, Is a Sign of Climate Change
The event known as the paleocene eocene thermal maximum, or p e t m. This is an abrupt spike in carbon and oxygen isotopes near a 56 million years ago. It resulted in a five to eight a degree celsius global average temperature rise. And this most acted as if the earth itself er were setting off an industrial revolution. But it was just volcanoes interacting with with these reservoirs of carbon in the ground.
