The Origins of Racism

Racism as a concept came into American and Western culture in the 19th century. It was used by French nationalists to describe advocacy for their own people. The earliest use of that term in English is 1902, but it doesn't become common use until the 1930s. But it is worth noting that that usage in 1902 was by a southern Baptist.
