The Four Types of Curiosity
The psychologist Daniel Berlin defined at least four types of curiosity. Perceptual curiosity is the curiosity we feel when something surprises us. Specific curiosity is curiosity about a very specific thing, like who was it that wrote the dead? And epistemic curiosity drives all scientific research and also works of art.
