Ep. 45 Paul McLaughlin PsyD, Mark R. McMinn PhD: Can Wisdom be Cultivated?

The Moral Imagination

CHAPTER

Is There a State Trait Difference?

Wisdom is embodied. It's a disposition or an act, right? That involves critical contemplation. So you can be wise for a moment and lose it. I think Solomon is the best example of this. He had wisdom, but then he made four decisions. And so I think it's just that state trait difference there. You have some people are just more naturally wise, at least in certain domains, and other people. But it's also a state or a habit, something that you can develop. Mark O'Mara: Your book is connected that developing knowledge and transcendence and tranquility, you can actually work on that and thereby become wise.
