General Anesthesia Isn't Asleep

Anesthesiologists are very wary of using the S word in cases when they are not putting you under general anesthesia. People have different levels of consciousness, even with deep sedation. Some may have some memories of moments inside of the OR and the anesthesiologist doesn't want to be blamed for that. It's probably good idea to tell people they're going to be asleep and then have them not be.
