Even without the tailoring, Silicon Valley Bank would have failed. We need to look more broadly at all banks and how they account for hold of maturity,. DFS securities should be marked as a mistake, it should be corrected. But even with the polarization that we're seeing in Congress these days, if the FDIC and Fed and Treasury and President say they need this authority, I can only assume that Congress can give it to them.
