You Could Make This Place Beautiful by Maggie Smith
Maggie Smith's debut memoir, You Could Make This Place Beautiful explores in lyrical vignettes the end of her marriage and the beginning of a surprising new life. It is an unflinching look at what it means to live and ride our own lives. The reason I really loved this memoir is I followed Maggie Smith's poems since she put good bones into the world - one of her first poems that she wrote for publication. My sons gifted this book to me for Mother's Day this year, and they, along with my husband, wrote me a message or a letter in the front of the book.
