The Fall League and the Pitch Clock
The use of a 20 second pitch clock was introduced in 2014. The new rules proved their effectiveness almost immediately. One of the first games to use the pitch timer clocked in at just two hours and 14 minutes, almost an hour shorter than the average MLB game that year. "It is some of my very favorite baseball then," says Baseball Night In America's Mike Downey.
