The Life of Apollonius by Phyllostratus

Apollonius of Tiana is a fascinating historical character who probably lived in the first century CE. He was sometimes used by pagan intellectuals as a counterweight to the figure of Jesus during the period when Christianity was on the rise. Apollonius also has a fascinating afterlife as a sage in the Islamic world and a large legendary and textual corpus is devoted to him in Arabic works of the medieval period under the name Bladinos.
