The Failure of Yuan Shikai
There were two separate revolts at the same time that had no connection to each other. Both of which fell apart, are remembered as the failure of 1913. Yuan Shikai offered to join the allies but was talked out of it by a British diplomat. Japan quickly entered the war so they could seize the German naval base of Qingdao.
