The Difference Between Throughput and Average Cycle Time
If you plot on a graph where the x axis is time and the y axis is basically the quantity of tasks that you're either getting done or that are entering the system, you can see that the difference starts to increase. So the greater that difference, the longer the queue is going to be and the longer the approximate average cycle time of things will be. As long as you're finishing what you start, that's a very important assumption. Finishing what you start is important. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work that way.
