When you're five years old, a day is a substantial portion of the amount of time you've been on the earth compared to when you're 70. The days are precious as you get older because there's fewer of them but they zip by partly because they represent such a small proportion of your conscious awareness. By analogy, think about wealth. If you are indigent, a homeless person, if you have no money, $5 means a whole lot to you. Because it's an enormous proportion of your wealth. When we're not fully present for it happening, it zips by. Most of the things I work on have a very long event horizon and many adults working on projects that
