Genetic Analysis of the First New Zealand Wave of the Virus
In march, new zealand's government implemented a stringent country wide lockdown aimed at eliminating the virus. Genetic analysis of the first new zealand wave from march to may, showed that the strict lock down began working right away. The rate of transmission, the number of people infected by each person with the virus, dropped from seven to zero point two in the first week in the largest cluster. That's a feat for a country of five million people, more than 13 times larger than iceland.
