The Pros and Cons of Subdividing
It won't change things nearly as much as you hope just because of the retrofitting that's involved in the city of California. You can have up to four pieces of four four units on a lot but the owner must continuously occupy the house while you are subdividing it which is a reason to not do it I don't know. The people will complain about even the smallest changes and they'll make a federal case out of this book called neighborhood defenders where the authors went through every word spoken in zoning meetings in the state of Massachusetts. i think the irony here is that many of them seem to have interpreted populism as a reason to expand government or expand the arbitrary authority of the administrative state
